Day 22 - HaraKiwi & Maxwell Inequality

So, Afghanistan shows the world that Southee can be negotiated safely. But there is a small problem of other Ghatotkachas viz., Boult and Vettori - who collectively made the Afghan's attempt - though commendable, look like an exercise of walk in the park. Except for the 20-odd balls after Baz's departure (yet another Mad Max innings!), when the Afghans conceded, hold your breath, just one run, there was nothing else left in the game. To me, the Kiwis are doing well, yet they are a bit under-cooked on the batting front. Whoever they meet in the finals (!) will be ready to complete the cooking!

Down at SCG, in front of a good partisan crowd, SL almost managed the impossible.

Beautiful batting by Dilshan (MJ getting whacked for 6 successive boundaries is an interesting foot-note of the game), Sangakkara (3 successive WC centuries, 14K runs - and did you say he is retiring?), Chandimal and Angelo.

However what should be worrying for SL is the fact that they have given away 300+ runs to full members and 240+ against the others. Except for Malinga (and Herath before he sustained that injury), their bowling looks toothless. Time to worry about the quarters against SAffers @ SCG :-)

G-Section:

Vishal is definitely on a streak.
Others are are hoping for that one big win!
Lose hope not, friends. If you keep at it, you too can  hit it ;-)

Tomorrow's game should be a cracker. England has been absent against the full members and can't afford to sleep further. Wilfred! Where is that Buck-u-Uppo when they need one?

Q-Section:

The two numbers from yesterday's question are the final irrevocable exchange rates that DEM and ITL saw against EUR. No, BAM set it much later and when ITL ceased to exist, BAM had a different rate :-)

Using the same letter-substitution logic, I wanted you to get the motto of MIT in LI (Limburgish)! No, no! Violence is not an answer to any of my quiz questions :D!

MIT has a logo of Mens et Manus (Latin) and when translated to LI is..."geis en handen". (Well, that took me more than 45 minutes of trolling!)

And you can hear it here.

AngelAsh went all the way up to Limburgish and decided that she will give me the Dutch translation - which is a very very close cousin of LI; gets three points.

Raghav came upto Limburgish but did not take the last step. So did Guru, who decided to blame Google translator for not giving the LI option. Both get 2 points.

Siva* reached upto DEM and ITL and secures a point.

Today's question for another three points...

What is the connection between Hooks, Peanuts, Seinfeld, Velvet and Vulcans that binds and tears us?
