Day 25 - Kumar Superkara!

The world may go gaga over the sky-rocketing strike-rates of the new-age batsmen. They may wax eloquent of their abilities to change a game in the phase of a few overs. They may crib, albeit grudgingly, about the size of their bats.

But when confronted with a phenomenon called Kumar Sangakkara, people are usually lost for words. For about 15 years he has been crouching & getting up, collecting balls, diving around, understanding Murali/Ajantha, captaining the team to a WC final, making them the WCT20 winner, have an astronomical test batting average and oh, by the way, scoring four consecutive centuries at the biggest stage of them all - CWC15!

On top of it, he has been the voice of sanity, voice of reason and voice of conscience for the Sri Lankan cricket. His lecture at the Lord's a few years back is a testimony of the man's erudition off the field too!

Salute, Champion! Wish you many more successes in this world cup itself! (not against India, ok? wink, wink!)

Is it me, or is it real? I discern a glint in the eyes of Sanga, Mahela and Dilshan this time around - they want to win it badly before signing off! Will their bowling step up?

PS: Scotland lost yet another game. More county cricket practice needed. Given that England might revamp its county cricket setup, gotta see how Scots can play more cricket there. Globalization??

G-Section:

For a low-interest game, Guru managed to sweep the stakes.

And will history repeat itself? Another 188 by a SA batsman against UAE?

Q-Section:

Our Q-Section winner today came up with a connection that the four fingers represent 'Rabia' salute from Egypt and that Rabia is the name of Sidhu (Navjot Singh, of course!) who is from Patiala whose erstwhile king commissioned Cartier to make the Patiala necklace. Sidhu's daughter indeed!!

Then he came back with the correct answer, which is much more up a drunkard's alley ;-)

The Patiala necklace - granted was commissioned by Bhupinder Singh of Patiala who among other things had 20 Rolls-Royce cars, was a cricket fanatic, sports enthusiast and of course a big philanderer (poor Vernon, what a surname to have!).

Apart from all these, he was the ultimate guy to have invented the Patiala Peg which is our answer for the day. And you should read the story behind the PP!

Now, Raghav is a teetotaler and you see what 4 points can do to dive deeper into the realms of 90-120ml whisky!

And as I was about to publish this post, AngelAsh came in with the answer. 4 points! #Wontgivetheleadback!

Now for today's question:

What does the Sotho word for gold got to do with South Africa's current day economy? No, it is not the gold mining. Very easy. A little bit of googling will take you through. [3 points]
